photoblog image House in the harbour

House in the harbour

Another sepia picture. Hardcore processing on this one.
The sky went all grainy... If someone knows how to keep it smooth after converting to bw and darkening it, feel free to share :)

i can't seem to see any grainyness in the sky....this shot looks great to me. love the tones!
spoon: Thanks for the comment. The graininess is there, it's just not that visible at this size.
An excellent sepia conversion. Looks more like UK than Romania!

Grain in the sky, this can be a problem when converting jpeg images. Use Curves instead of Levels to adjust tonal range and contrast. Look at individual channels, usually the Blue channel contains most of the noise. you can copy the channel with least noise by using select>all and copy then paste into a new layer.

Let me know how you get on.
spoon: Well it is UK. It's in Amble, England. Thanks for the tips...

Love the stone work.
spoon: Thanks Tracy
I had a holiday in Amble many years ago. Never got a picture as good as this. A gritty image for a gritty part of the country. Love it!
spoon: The place is quite nice. I would go back there, spend a few days...
Good conversion, nice and sharp wheer it counts. The grain in the sky is not too noticable on my monitor.
spoon: That's good to hear. Thank you.
